Shelby Adams is a Partner Clinician at Soar Autism Center, specializing in early intervention services using the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). With over eight years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), she has supported clients across a wide range of ages and settings, including in-home therapy, school-based and parent consultation, and center-based programming.
Shelby has extensive experience using Behavioral Skills Training (BST) to support RBTs, clinicians, and caregivers in delivering high quality, evidence-based intervention. She holds a Level One certification in Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) and has spent the past three years implementing SBT with diverse learners. Her research background includes work related to Direct Instruction, RBT performance feedback, and the development of functional communication skills. Shelby is especially passionate about empowering parents and caregivers, providing trauma-assumed care, and advancing “Today’s ABA” practices that emphasize dignity, assent, and individualization.
Shelby holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Special Education with a specialization in ABA from The Ohio State University. At Soar, she serves as a clinical leader, fostering clinical excellence and driving meaningful client progress. Outside of work, Shelby enjoys coaching field hockey, hiking and skiing, and caring for her two huskies alongside her husband, Austin.
